B.A. Middlebury College / MFA USC School of Cinematic Arts

Dasha Pimenov, born to refugee parents who escaped religious persecution in the USSR, was raised in a densely populated and culturally rich Latino community of southeast LA. Oral history and storytelling became key to preserving her family’s cultural heritage and shaping her understanding of the world. She attended LAUSD public schools all her life, was selected for College Match LA, a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping high-achieving low-income students, and graduated high school with an International Baccalaureate (IB) diploma.

Dasha’s deteriorating Russian genes and Angeleno lifestyle poorly prepared her for the cold Vermont winters at Middlebury College. Nevertheless, she became the first college graduate in her family earning a B.A. with Honors in History and Film & Media Culture as a Summa Cum Laude double major. Her undergraduate studies primarily focused on Cold War culture, European and Eurasian affairs, and the ancient Mediterranean world. She rediscovered her passion for mass media and filmmaking while writing her now-published thesis on consumer culture and juvenile propaganda.

In May 2024, Dasha earned her MFA in Film & TV Production from USC School of Cinematic Arts, where she also worked as a Teaching Assistant, projectionist, post-production admin, and student producer. The Lord has blessed her with a bouquet of unforgettable work experiences, from Creative Development at the Television Academy to Production at the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival. She is determined to bring light into film and media spaces, so that others can experience Christ’s transformative love. Dasha is thrilled to be part of the ASC family and to begin the new adventure our Author has written for her!
