About Us

Coach Sam Turks is a highly accomplished basketball player and dedicated youth mentor with a rich background in sports. He started his basketball career at Inglewood High School, where he was a 3-year starter instrumental in leading the team to three undefeated Bay League titles and a C.I.F Championship. Among his numerous accolades, Coach Sam Turks was McDonald's All-American nominee, Bay League MVP, First Team All-CIF, First Team All Daily Breeze. He also shared team Co-MVP honors with NBA Champion Paul Pierce. 

After high school, Coach Sam earned a basketball scholarship to Utah State. After a year-and-a-half Sam transferred to Ventura College earning All -Conference, JUCO All-American, and Team MVP honors. Graduating with an Associate degree, Sam continued his basketball Journey at Southern University of New Orleans. Leading the team to their first NAIA Elite 8 tournament appearance, he was recognized with All-Conference and All-Tournament honors. 

Beyond his playing career, Coach Turks is a passionate mentor and community leader. For over 15 years, he has coached in the AAU circuit through Slam N Jam and Cali Gold (2025 3SSB Adidas Champs). Known as one of the best Development coaches in the South Bay, Coach Turks has been an Assistant Varsity Coach over the last 10 years at Palos Verdes Penninsula and Redondo Union High School. Coach Turks is deeply committed to giving back to the area's youth and being a dedicated father to his two children. His love for working with young people and his desire to help them grow both on and off the court continues to drive his mission.
